The mind is a strange, strange place.

I can cross this off my to-do list. I bought my wedding dress!!!

My mother in-law burst into tears when she saw me in it.

I’m so happy and I can’t wait for Nick to see it the day of.

you put it in words bless you

Orange! :-)

Since I moved last month, I actually have a new hometown! I live in St. Leonard now, which is a borough of Montreal (this city is SO huge).

1. St. Leonard has one of the highest concentrations of Italian-Canadians in Montreal. As a matter of fact, I believe all of our immediate neighbours are Italian (there was a congregation of Italian grandmothers hawk-eyeing us the day we moved in). One of my favourite things is having the windows open and hearing all of these Italian conservations going on. I’m not fluent in Italian (though my dad is Italian), but I can understand it a little bit and living in St. Leonard has definitely motivated me to learn more.

2. St. Leonard has very unique architecture that’s particular of the area. It’s known for its brick, semi-detached duplexes (see photo I snapped below from my living room window). Also, everyone has a giant vegetable garden in their backyard. Except for us, but I’m determined to get a little one growing on our balcony next year.

3. We live two minutes away from an enormous park, which is lovely, because one thing I miss about my old hometown are all of the forests and greenery. This park has tennis courts, soccer fields, water sprinklers, a gazebo and an assembly of what I at first thought was playground equipment, but it’s actually equipment you can use to work out in (like, a playground elliptical, etc). I’ve never seen that before in my life, but it’s amazing and Nick and I agreed to go work out there.

4. There’s an Italian bakery not too far away from where I live that’s called Laura and it actually sells the nicest desserts.

5. There’s ALSO a grocery store that sells only Italian food. I mean, even the packaging is in Italian (see picture below of some tasty cookies). I feel like I’ve gone back to Europe every time I set foot in there. And of course, I always buy bread, cheese, pasta and olives.

6. There are Italian cafés literally, on every street corner. Starbucks would not survive in St. Leonard.
